„HOW IT’S MADE”, or how KZŁ Bydgoszcz as the first and, so far, the only manufacturer has produced and launched SDIP integrated with CSDIP of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA.
Kolejowe Zakłady Łączności sp. z o.o. is a strong leader in the supply and installation of comprehensive passenger information systems at railway stations in Poland. So far, this Bydgoszcz-based company is the only one with experience in the creation and implementation of Passenger Information Systems at railway stations that are integrated with the Central Dynamic Passenger Information Control Application (CASDIP).
Central Dynamic Passenger Information System is a solution developed by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA, representing a centralized set of devices connected with the Central Dynamic Passenger Information Control Application operated by PKP PLK S.A. and used to present visual and auditory information about the timetables of passenger trains.
Implementation of tasks related to the integration of devices manufactured by KZŁ Bydgoszcz with CSDIP took place gradually, starting with several months of testing prototypes and communication protocols of PKP PLK SA displayed on different types of platform displays and sensors, to the complete and successful pilot implementation at the train station Jelenia Góra one year ago. Cooperation with the IT Office and the Office of Operations and Passenger Service has ensured comprehensive operation of displays of all types and formats offered today by KZŁ Bydgoszcz. In this way, the goal has been achieved – it is now possible to control displays and deliver messages centrally using the CASDIP system..
Kolejowe Zakłady Łączności sp. z o.o. are the manufacturer of CSDIP driver elements (platform displays, tunnel displays, bulk displays, info kiosks etc.), which are continuously and directly controlled by the CASDIP application of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA. Because of that, the infrastructure manager (PKP PLK SA) has full control over the image displayed on each board installed at the station.
At present, KZŁ Bydgoszcz is the only manufacturer that has supplied and launched passenger information systems connected to CASDIP already at five locations in Poland: Jelenia Góra, Zielona Góra, Warszawa Wola, Warszawa Młynów, Warszawa Koło, where the devices are operating in production environment (nearly 200 devices), and are controlled by and supplied with data from CASDIP. .
Integration of the displays manufactured by KZŁ with CSDIP required adapting not only the design, including special controls, but also ensuring proper device software and a set of sensors compatible with the requirements of PKP PLK. In this way, not only displays, but also audio systems and train presence detectors manufactured by KZŁ have been integrated.
The CASDIP operator manages the available infrastructure installed at the station, having full control over the displayed information, the status of individual devices, the displayed content and technical parameters of the devices, such as temperature, humidity and brightness.
Kolejowe Zakłady Łączności sp. z o.o. is currently the most experienced manufacturer of railway passenger information systems in Poland. KZŁ solutions are found at the vast majority of train stations in Poland, from the largest (Warszawa Centralna, Łódź Fabryczna, Kraków Główny, Wrocław Główny, Poznań Główny), to the smaller ones (Tczew, Wieliczka, Iława, Sopot etc.). The manufacturer offers a full range of modern displays, sensors and time signalling devices in accordance with the current guidelines.
